A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
HDFC Bank, India’s second-largest private bank, was struggling as rapid branch expansion and growing loan-processing volumes began to overwhelm its storage infrastructure (5PB across three data centers). The bank faced slow off-site document retrieval, high risk of physical document loss, squeezed backup windows and reduced availability—so HDFC Bank engaged Hitachi Vantara and adopted the Hitachi Content Platform 500 (HCP 500) to provide a reliable, scalable digital repository for loan documents and long-term archiving.
Hitachi Vantara deployed HCP 500 with the Waves Image Repository, delivering a single object-based storage platform supporting up to 40 PB, advanced replication for disaster recovery, configurable security and a web-based GUI; the rollout was completed in 15 days. The solution consolidated storage, reduced reliance on tape backups and dedicated backup windows, sped document retrieval, lowered data-loss risk, improved customer response times and made HDFC’s storage environment cloud-ready.
