Europe’s Cortal Consors Supports Ambitious Consumer Banking Initiative With Powerful Hitachi Storage Solutions

Cortal Consors, a leading European banking and brokerage firm that expanded into consumer banking with its “Hello bank!” initiative, faced rapid data growth and a storage bottleneck in its Nuremberg data center. The company needed flexible, virtualized tiered storage with automatic failover and easier migrations to support online banking, trading and development environments, so it selected Hitachi Vantara solutions including Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP), Hitachi Unified Storage 130 (HUS 130) and Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS).

Hitachi Vantara implemented two VSPs, two HUS 130 systems and two HNAS nodes managed via Hitachi Command Suite and Hitachi High Availability Manager, working with Computacenter to commission and train staff. The deployment delivered automated tiered storage, seamless failover, thin provisioning and non-disruptive expansion, simplifying management and reducing support effort; measurable impact included productive systems using only 40% of the resources previously required, plus lower floor space and energy consumption.
