Energy Provider Synergy Takes Data Protection and Disaster Recovery to New Level With Hitachi Solutions

Synergy, Western Australia’s largest gas and electricity provider, faced capacity, performance and business‑continuity challenges after merging with Verve Energy and consolidating four data centers into two. To support roughly 1,000 virtual machines and implement next‑generation replication and protection during the migration, Synergy engaged Hitachi Vantara’s Global Services Solutions to deliver new storage, NAS and data protection technology, including the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G600, Hitachi NAS Platform and Hitachi Data Protection Suite.

Hitachi Vantara designed, installed and configured an active‑active SAN and integrated data‑protection solution across the two sites, enabling hot 24/7 replication and eliminating traditional cold‑standby DR. The deployment migrated 700 TB with zero business downtime, delivered continuous availability for 1,000+ VMs and full protection for SAP, Microsoft SQL Server and VMware VDI, while improving scalability, resiliency and reducing total cost of ownership.
