Cornwall Community Hospital Unifies State-of-the-Art Campus, Builds New Data Center on Single-Source Hitachi Solutions

Cornwall Community Hospital, after merging two facilities and adding nearly 100,000 sq. ft. of new clinical space, needed a single-source, high‑availability data center to consolidate roughly 100 physical servers, centralize storage and backups, and support 24/7 healthcare operations. The hospital selected Hitachi Vantara to deliver an end-to-end infrastructure built on Hitachi Compute Blades, Hitachi Unified Storage and Hitachi Data Protection Suite with native VMware vSphere integration.

Hitachi Vantara deployed Hitachi Compute Blade 2000 chassis, Hitachi Unified Storage 150/110 and Hitachi Data Protection Suite (powered by CommVault), plus services for racking, virtualization and backup orchestration. The solution enabled simplified backup and recovery, more than 50% server virtualization to date (with plans for 100%), scalable expansion (storage can grow roughly tenfold), faster application recovery and industry-grade resilience — achieving up to 99.999% availability and a flexible foundation for future EHR and wireless initiatives.
