Insurance Australia Group (IAG), one of the largest general insurers in Australia and New Zealand, needed to contain rising storage costs while maintaining data center resilience, availability, and performance across a complex multi-vendor environment. IAG turned to Hitachi Vantara for an assessment and a more consistent, flexible storage service model, including managed storage and backup services.

Hitachi Vantara delivered an outcomes-driven managed services program with consumption-based pricing, backup and recovery support, data center migration services, and storage analytics through tools such as Hitachi Ops Center. The results included greater efficiency, improved cost transparency, stronger data protection, and a 70% reduction in IAG’s data center footprint from 52 racks to 16, while still meeting and exceeding SLAs.
