A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Contactlab, an Italy-based digital direct marketing services provider, faced rapidly growing customer data and a fragmented, hard-to-manage SaaS infrastructure that was slowing provisioning and threatening availability and privacy. To address this, Contactlab partnered with Hitachi Vantara to build a private cloud based on Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere, leveraging Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G200, Hitachi Unified Storage VM with Accelerated Flash, Compute Blade 500 and UCP Director, plus Brocade and VMware.
Hitachi Vantara delivered a fully converged, two-site (Milan and Amsterdam) private cloud with automation and disaster-recovery capabilities, enabling Contactlab to consolidate about 150 physical servers and four storage systems and cut data center footprint by 55% (from 50 m2 to 22 m2). The environment now supports much higher data volumes (nearly 100 million emails sent daily), faster provisioning via UCP Director, improved security and recovery, and reduced lead times for new services.
