IoT Provider, a leading global IoT and augmented reality company and early pioneer of internet-based PLM software, faced exponentially growing tape-based backups that were manual, costly and time-consuming. The company needed to migrate terabytes of backup data to the cloud with minimal downtime to reduce its data center footprint and operating costs, so it engaged Cloud Migration Services from Hitachi Vantara.

Hitachi Vantara designed and executed a migration using AWS Snowball to securely move terabytes into Amazon S3, integrated Commvault for seamless backup and restore, and implemented a cloud-based architecture for continuous backups. The solution delivered a highly scalable, flexible AWS environment with seamless, automated backups, eliminated local storage management, and cut data-transfer costs to about one-fifth the cost of high‑speed internet alternatives, producing significant operational cost savings and minimal business disruption.
