A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
China Academy of Railway Sciences operates 12306.cn, China’s online rail ticketing system that faces huge, highly variable demand (peaking around the Spring Festival) and needed to move from cluster-based microcomputers to virtualized, active-active data centers. To meet requirements for high performance, scalability and continuous availability, they selected Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000 (VSP G1000) along with Hitachi software and services to replace older storage and enable active-active storage across two data centers.
Hitachi Vantara implemented a global-active VSP G1000 solution (with Hitachi Replication Manager, Tuning Manager, Storage Virtualization OS, Dynamic Provisioning and unified Device Manager) and provided design and migration services to deploy the active-active architecture. The deployment cut service migration time across data centers to minutes, reduced data center footprint and energy needs by up to 80%, improved business continuity for 12306.cn (including reliable support during the Spring Festival rush), and delivered the scalability and performance to support millions of daily users.
