CGI Builds Successful Federal Cloud Services on Hitachi UCP Select for VMware vSphere With Cisco UCS

CGI, a global IT and cloud and hosting provider and one of the first FedRAMP-authorized federal cloud vendors, needed a converged, scalable platform to meet stringent GSA mandates (including minimum scalability and high availability for thousands of VMs) and to support diverse, mission‑critical government workloads. To meet that challenge CGI standardized on a converged stack built around Hitachi Vantara’s UCP Select for VMware vSphere with Cisco UCS, plus Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform and Hitachi storage software.

Hitachi Vantara’s UCP Select solution delivered rapid provisioning, simplified infrastructure and elastic resource allocation, enabling CGI to standardize many data centers, shorten provisioning from days to hours, and support large multitenant federal workloads. As a result—working with Hitachi Vantara (and VMware/Cisco)—CGI met GSA scalability and availability requirements, accelerated deployments, improved operational efficiency, and achieved measurable benefits such as faster rollouts and up to 50% sustainable savings in some offerings.
