Catholic Education South Australia Delivers Quality Education With Advanced Hitachi Virtualization and Improved Service Delivery

Catholic Education South Australia needed to modernize its aging infrastructure to deliver faster, more reliable digital learning services across 103 schools and nearly 48,000 students. Facing legacy storage latency (>100 ms), an expiring hosting agreement and a data-center migration, CESA engaged Hitachi Vantara to provide a virtualized server and storage platform using Hitachi Unified Storage with Dynamic Provisioning and Tiered Storage Manager plus Hitachi Global Services support.

Hitachi Vantara delivered an incident‑free migration of 400 servers and 60 TB of data in two weeks and enabled rapid application failback capabilities; post‑migration latency fell to 4–5 ms, physical servers were reduced from 104 to 78 while virtual servers grew to almost 400, and roughly 70% of the environment is now virtualized. The Hitachi Vantara solution increased uptime and scalability (to 4.5 PB), lowered data‑center and maintenance costs, and improved user experience and service delivery for staff and students.
