A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Capital Online Data Services (CDS), a Beijing-based IaaS provider serving e‑commerce, online gaming and education customers, needed to enter the public cloud object storage market quickly to address nonstop data growth—more than 65% of its capacity was unstructured file data and write-heavy workloads were driving performance overhead. To accelerate time to market and avoid heavy custom development, CDS turned to Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) solution, including HCP G10 access nodes and HCP S30 storage nodes.
Hitachi Vantara, together with its services partners, implemented a mixed HCP G and S series architecture to deliver a scalable, policy-driven object storage platform with built‑in automation, compression, single-instance storage, replication and S3/REST access. The deployment reached go‑live in three months, reduced development time and costs, eased CDS’s storage burden, and enabled new customer services and SLAs; CDS expects 50% of cloud host users to store their unstructured data on the new offering, lowering TCO and expanding revenue opportunities.
