BOS Requires High-Quality Reporting Manufacturer Needs Analytics

BOS, an international automotive parts manufacturer with production sites across Europe, North America and Asia, needed a standardized reporting and visualization solution to replace fragmented Excel-based reporting and Java-built dashboards. Hitachi Vantara (via its Pentaho suite — Pentaho Data Integration and Pentaho Business Analytics, implemented by partner IT-Novum) was chosen to provide a platform that would integrate BOS’s disparate in‑house systems and improve data quality.

Hitachi Vantara implemented a centralized data warehouse and a Pentaho-based platform with three components — a project cockpit, an operations cockpit aggregating about 30 KPIs, and an automated supplier evaluation system — enabling integrated data from SAP, project databases and Excel to be loaded, consolidated and visualized. The result: automated, easy-to-create reports and dashboards, real-time access to global production KPIs, streamlined supplier reviews (with automated notifications) and a marked reduction in manual, error-prone reporting work for BOS.
