Bank Vontobel Implements Super-Flexible Hitachi Solution To Reflect a Changing, Competitive World

Bank Vontobel, a Swiss global wealth and asset manager, faced limited flexibility and isolated storage environments that hindered its ability to respond quickly to changing market demands. Although the bank already used Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000 and Hitachi Content Platform, its NAS solution was from a different vendor, so Bank Vontobel engaged Hitachi Vantara to standardize and modernize its storage landscape.

Hitachi Vantara implemented Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS) alongside the existing VSP G1000 and HCP, migrating over 40 TB of data—about 80 million objects across more than 20 virtualized file systems—without unplanned downtime and completing the project in eight months with support from Hitachi Vantara Global Services Solutions. The unified Hitachi solution simplified management, created a single interchangeable storage pool, eliminated NDMP backup costs, delivered ROI in one year, and improved the bank’s ability to respond to business demand.
