A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Gati Limited (Gati Kintetsu Express Private Limited), a leading Indian express distribution and supply‑chain provider, faced performance and scalability limits from a legacy IT estate of Sun servers and older Hitachi storage that constrained its GEMS and Oracle ERP applications. The aging infrastructure drove high power, cooling and data‑center costs and slowed critical processes such as end‑of‑day batch jobs and month‑end billing, so the company engaged Hitachi Vantara for a technology refresh to boost storage efficiency, performance and manageability.
Hitachi Vantara deployed Hitachi Unified Storage VM with Hitachi Accelerated Flash and provided data‑migration services to virtualize and consolidate heterogeneous arrays onto a hybrid flash/HDD platform with dynamic provisioning. The solution cut batch jobs from up to 2 hours to 15 minutes, reduced month‑end billing from 9.5 to 7 hours, lowered power from 2.9 KVA/9,454 BTU/h to 0.9 KVA/2,839 BTU/h, shrank rack space from 24U to 7U and delivered a 66% reduction in data‑center storage costs, while improving reliability, scalability and ease of management.
