Supporting Student Services 24/7 with Intelligent Infrastructure

Indiana University needed an intelligent infrastructure to support 24/7 student services across nine campuses while improving data protection, standardizing storage, and consolidating systems from smaller locations into its main data centers. Working with Hitachi Vantara, the university set out to modernize its storage environment and support compliance requirements like HIPAA and FERPA while keeping services always available.

Hitachi Vantara implemented Hitachi EverFlex along with upgraded block storage using four Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform 5600 arrays and a new Virtual Storage Platform One File 34 environment. The solution doubled maximum performance, increased total storage capacity by 25%, added 3PB of central file storage, and enabled near-zero RTO and RPO for business continuity—all without increasing total cost of ownership.
