The Belgium Railway Infrastructure Manager Keeps Services on Track With Hitachi Backup and Recovery Technology

Infrabel, the Belgium Railway Infrastructure Manager, was struggling with an aging backup environment that couldn’t keep up with rapidly growing data volumes, putting backup windows and service-level agreements at risk. To address this challenge, Infrabel worked with Hitachi Data Systems and used Hitachi Protection Platform (HPP) with Veritas NetBackup to modernize and simplify its data protection process.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented an end-to-end, disk-based backup and recovery solution using four Hitachi Protection Platform appliances and Hitachi Unified Storage 110, helping Infrabel consolidate its infrastructure and enable replication. The result was a much more reliable backup environment with a 98% daily backup success rate, fewer restore problems, reduced SAN traffic, and the ability to meet backup windows and replicate data within 24 hours.
