Russian Car Manufacturer Upgrades and Streamlines Storage Infrastructure With Hitachi Technologies

Avtovaz, a major Russian car manufacturer, needed to modernize a fragmented, aging storage environment built from multiple generations of systems and vendors. Its growing user base and expanding IT demands required corporate file storage, server virtualization support, easier scaling, standardized Microsoft Active Directory authentication, and more reliable data management. Hitachi Data Systems was brought in to help address these challenges with file and content storage technologies.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented a solution based on Hitachi NAS Platform 3090, Hitachi Unified Storage 130, and Hitachi Command Suite, integrating the system with Citrix/KVM virtualization and Microsoft Active Directory. The result was a scalable, high-performance file storage platform with simpler administration, transparent authentication, and improved reliability through clustering and failover. Avtovaz reported faster deployment of new services, reduced downtime, more efficient disk usage, and infrastructure that can expand to 3x volume and performance.
