Polish Supercomputer Center CI TASK Stores More Than 1.7PB of Data on Hitachi Storage With the Lustre File System

CI TASK, one of Poland’s largest supercomputer centers, needed a storage environment that could keep up with rapidly growing scientific workloads and support future expansion without performance bottlenecks. The center turned to Hitachi Data Systems and the Lustre file system to improve high-performance data handling for its Galera Plus supercomputer.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented a platform built on Hitachi Unified Storage VM and Hitachi Unified Storage 150, enabling a single scalable namespace and flexible resource management for CI TASK. The solution delivered stable data recording performance of about 15 GB per second even during disk rebuilds, and helped CI TASK reach more than 1.7 PB of usable storage while improving availability, parallel processing efficiency, and overall supercomputer performance.
