A Hitachi Data Systems Case Study
Photobucket, the online photo printing and sharing company, needed to replace a costly legacy storage environment that had grown to about 20PB across three data centers. It wanted to move from capital-heavy infrastructure purchases to a more flexible consumption model while keeping millions of photos and videos secure and accessible. Hitachi Data Systems’ Hitachi Cloud Services and Hitachi Content Platform were selected to support that shift.
Hitachi Data Systems implemented a single-vendor, all-cloud solution that provided object storage, offsite archiving, and seamless integration with Photobucket’s existing applications. The result was a fully managed, pay-as-you-grow model that reduced storage costs, improved business agility, and minimized the data center footprint. Photobucket also gained replicated dual-copy protection and the ability to handle 1.8PB of year-over-year growth while freeing its team to focus more on innovation.
