A Hitachi Data Systems Case Study
Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited, a major telecommunications and Internet service provider in Hong Kong, needed to modernize an aging, multi-vendor IT environment of more than 200 physical servers that was hard to manage and too slow to support rapid service launches. The company turned to Hitachi Data Systems and Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere, along with Hitachi Unified Compute Platform Director, to address compatibility issues, reduce complexity, and improve time to market.
Hitachi Data Systems implemented a private cloud infrastructure that standardized HKBN’s systems, improved flexibility, and simplified monitoring and provisioning. As a result, HKBN migrated 60 systems in the first week, cut new service deployment from up to four weeks to as little as a few hours or one day, reduced racks from 10 to 2, and achieved 40% savings in electricity and space while increasing server-management capacity from 30–50 to 100–150 servers per administrator.
