Hitachi Supports German Thriftiness, Helps to Reduce Costs and Enhance Performance at Tübingen University Hospital

Tübingen University Hospital needed to consolidate disparate IT systems while handling rapidly growing unstructured data, improving performance and capacity, and keeping storage costs under control. The hospital evaluated a future-proof NAS approach and selected Hitachi Data Systems, using Hitachi NAS Platform 3080 and Hitachi Unified Storage HUS 130 along with Hitachi TrueCopy and services from partner Cristie.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented a new NAS-based storage infrastructure with synchronous replication and disaster recovery support, providing nearly 400TB of additional raw capacity and enabling service levels for critical hospital workloads. The results included storage costs about one third lower than SAN storage, better performance, audit-compliant retention, and a scalable design that can grow to 4PB.
