Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (SNS) – Dreams Lab needed a storage infrastructure that could support high-performance computing, manage rapidly growing research data, and provide reliable, scalable access for both administrative services and advanced scientific projects. Before working with Hitachi Data Systems, storage was fragmented across research groups, making management, sharing, and scaling difficult.

Hitachi Data Systems designed and implemented a centralized solution using Hitachi NAS Platform 3090 systems, Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2100/2500, and NAS cluster software. The new infrastructure consolidated storage into a single managed environment, delivering high-performance data access, better scalability, and cost savings; performance reached up to 1.6 GB/sec and 200,000 IOPS per node, with 180 TB total capacity.
