The First People’s Hospital of Yibin, a leading city hospital in China, was struggling with rapid data growth, outdated HP storage, performance bottlenecks, and long backup windows that put data protection and uptime at risk. To support its move toward a digital hospital and private cloud storage, it turned to Hitachi Data Systems and HUS VM with flash storage to improve performance, security, scalability, and operational stability.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented a unified private cloud storage platform using Hitachi Unified Storage VM, flash, dynamic tiering, and Hitachi Data Instance Manager. The result was faster, more resilient storage with core system I/O response times under 1 ms, HIS response times down 18%, CIS down 30%, and manual backup time reduced by 75%; the hospital also migrated dozens of terabytes in just a half-hour downtime window, significantly reducing planned downtime and enabling future expansion.
