Europe’s Cortal Consors Supports Ambitious Consumer Banking Initiative With Powerful Hitachi Storage Solutions

Cortal Consors, a European banking and brokerage firm, needed to modernize its storage infrastructure to support rapid growth from its “Hello bank!” consumer banking expansion. Its existing systems in Nuremberg had become a bottleneck, with complex host-based migrations, limited failover capabilities, and too much manual effort to manage rising data demands. The company chose Hitachi Data Systems storage solutions, including Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, Hitachi Unified Storage 130, and Hitachi NAS Platform.

Hitachi Data Systems helped Cortal Consors redesign the environment with scalable, automated, and high-availability storage. The new setup centralized most storage on two VSP systems, added HUS for backup and HNAS for file services, and used Hitachi Command Suite and High Availability Manager to automate tiering and failover. The result was a more flexible and reliable platform that reduced resource usage to 40% of the old environment, cut floor space and energy needs, simplified management, and enabled live extensions and changes without downtime.
