CapitalOnline Builds Intelligent “Cloud Service” Data Center With Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere

CapitalOnline, one of China’s early Internet data center providers and a growing cloud service company, needed to simplify a fragmented infrastructure, overcome the limits of its legacy Ethernet architecture, and boost storage performance to meet rising customer demand. To address these challenges, CapitalOnline turned to Hitachi Data Systems and its Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented a unified solution combining Hitachi Compute Blade 2000, Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform with Accelerated Flash, and Brocade fabric switches, plus Hitachi Device Manager, Dynamic Tiering, and planning/implementation services. The result was centralized management, stronger network resilience, and major performance gains: Storage vMotion became 5x faster, vMotion time dropped from about 10 minutes to 1–2 minutes, and the platform could deliver up to 300,000 IOPS, with future scalability to 600,000 IOPS.
