BMC Software Partners With Hitachi to “Rewrite the Code” on Effectively Managing Globally Dispersed Data Centers

BMC Software, a global IT management software company, was struggling with highly complex storage across 8 data centers and nearly 2PB of data, created by hundreds of devices from multiple vendors. The sprawl was causing latency, performance, stability, and maintenance challenges, and BMC needed a simpler, more reliable enterprise storage approach. BMC partnered with Hitachi Data Systems, using Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, Hitachi NAS Platform, and Hitachi Command Suite.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented a consolidated storage solution with migration, training, and support services, enabling BMC to standardize management through a single interface and retire older arrays. As a result, BMC reported no downtime, improved performance across the board, fewer end-user complaints, and substantial savings in maintenance and support costs. The company also streamlined administration and was able to keep up with quarterly storage growth of about 50TB while continuing to migrate more workloads to Hitachi Data Systems.
