Austin Police Deploy Hitachi Insight Group SOlution to Serve and Protect With Greate Visibility and Connected Intelligence

Austin Police Department needed a way to support data-driven, citizen-centric policing while stretching limited public-sector budgets and improving surveillance in crime-prone areas of Austin, including Rundberg and downtown entertainment districts. The department turned to Hitachi Data Systems’ Hitachi Visualization Platform (HVP) and Hitachi Visualization Suite (HVS) to build its HALO public safety camera project.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented edge-capture camera pods and integrated software for real-time monitoring, video analysis, and third-party system connectivity. The solution helped APD deploy an expandable citywide camera network, delivered 108 capture incidents from camera footage in quarterly reporting, and expanded viewing access to about 1,000 cameras across the city, improving situational awareness and officer response.
