A Leading Logistics Provider Aims to Refresh Its Storage Technology for Improved Performance and Efficiency

Gati Kintetsu Express Private Limited (Gati KWE), a major Indian logistics and supply chain provider, needed to refresh its legacy Sun servers and older Hitachi storage to better support its ERP environment, including GEMS and Oracle ERP. The company was struggling with limited performance, high data center costs, and difficulty scaling as its business grew, and it looked to Hitachi Data Systems for a more efficient storage technology upgrade.

Hitachi Data Systems implemented Hitachi Unified Storage VM with Hitachi Accelerated Flash and migration services to consolidate storage, improve virtualization, and simplify management. The results included batch jobs dropping from up to 2 hours to 15 minutes, month-end billing improving from 9.5 hours to 7 hours, power use falling from 2.9 KVA/9454 BTU/h to 0.9 KVA/2839 BTU/h, rack space shrinking from 24U to 7U, and a 66% reduction in storage-related data center costs.
