A Hirevue Case Study
The Boston Red Sox, whose game-day staff of roughly 500 people is central to the Fenway fan experience, faced an inefficient seasonal hiring process: a chaotic single recruiting day (and later an email-survey plus full-day interviews) that wasted managers’ time, made it hard to screen for communication and customer-service skills, and delivered a subpar candidate experience. New HR leadership sought a faster, more scalable way to assess fit and return managers to their day jobs.
In fall 2012 the Red Sox rolled out HireVue On Demand digital interviews, letting candidates complete interviews anytime from any device and enabling managers to review, rate and collaborate asynchronously. The change produced faster, better hiring—up to a 75% reduction in time to hire (for example, 12 inside sales hires in under three weeks vs. an estimated eight weeks), earlier insight into candidates’ personality and fit, a smoother candidate experience, broader sourcing via OpenVue, and a dynamic digital talent pipeline.
