William Hill, a UK retail operator with 1,300 shops and around 12,000 employees, faced a high-volume recruitment challenge—over 30,000 retail applications a year were manually screened, meaning preferred candidates often waited more than two weeks for interviews and were frequently lost to other offers. The talent team wanted to speed screening, improve candidate and hiring manager experience, increase candidate quality and boost diversity.

Partnering with Hirevue and AMS, William Hill launched a 15-minute games-based assessment to automate initial screening and pre-qualify applicants for interviews within 24 hours. The new process cut time-to-interview from 15 days to 1.8 days, delivered a 93% candidate satisfaction score (9.3/10), strong hiring manager ratings (8.8/10), and improved candidate diversity and perceived quality.
