Pneumax unifies 3 product lines with Hilscher netX 90

Pneumax, an Italian industrial automation company, faced the challenge of upgrading its device communication beyond traditional protocols to manage large volumes of cyclic data in real time with high-performance deterministic Ethernet-based protocols. They needed a flexible solution to avoid hardware changes for each protocol switch. Pneumax partnered with vendor Hilscher and adopted their netX 90 System-on-Chip (SoC) technology to address this need.

Hilscher's netX 90 provided a multiprotocol platform that allowed Pneumax to switch between communication standards like EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, and CC-Link IE Field through software configuration alone. This solution enabled Pneumax to standardize its hardware, simplify design by integrating application functions onto the chip's dual cores, and develop an automated production system for programming devices. The results included reduced latency, contained dimensions and costs, increased robustness and reliability, and greater flexibility for both Pneumax and its machine builder customers.
