Multivac Sepp Haggenmüller SE & Co. KG, a leading global provider of integrated packaging solutions, faced the challenge of leveraging machine data to optimize availability and reduce unplanned downtime for their customers. To address this, they partnered with vendor Hilscher to implement an IIoT connectivity solution using the netFIELD technology.

Hilscher's solution involved integrating netFIELD edge gateways and the netFIELD OS management software into Multivac's machines. This allowed for the simple and flexible collection of process data, enabling the development of new data-based Smart Services. The results included a 30-50 minute increase in production time per week for machine operators and provided Multivac with the foundation to develop new business models and optimize machine development.
