Hanwha Robotics, a provider of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for semiconductor manufacturing, faced challenges with motor control failures and communication delays using their previous low-cost gateway solution. This instability during the transport of delicate silicon wafers risked product damage. They sought a higher-performance gateway from vendor Hilscher to meet their client's stringent requirements for stability and precision.

Hilscher implemented its netHOST master gateway for CANopen, which provided immediate error feedback, high communication capacity, and the ability to control multiple drives simultaneously. The solution eliminated motor control failures and shutdowns, allowing for quicker troubleshooting and reduced downtime. As a result, Hanwha Robotics finished the project within the customer's deadline and is considering further collaboration with Hilscher.
