Peking University Launches Cloud-based Campus Secured by Hillstone Networks CloudHive Solution

Peking University, one of China’s leading universities in Beijing, needed a way to support rapid cloud growth while improving visibility and security for east-west traffic inside its VMware-based private cloud. As more academic services moved to the cloud, the university faced the risk that traditional perimeter defenses could not segment virtual machines or stop malware from spreading laterally.

Hillstone Networks provided its CloudHive solution to give Peking University traffic visibility, application identification, and micro-segmentation controls within the cloud. With Hillstone Networks, the university implemented fine-grained access control and IPS protection at Layer 2 without changing the original network design, helping prevent VM-to-VM attacks and improving security across roughly 500 virtual machines.
