Instituto Tecnológico Bolivariano secures 20,000 daily devices with Hillstone Networks

Instituto Tecnológico Bolivariano, a large university in Ecuador, faced challenges scaling its network security to handle its 10,000 students and 20,000 daily devices, while also needing to defend against sophisticated post-breach cyberattacks like DGA and botnets. The institution turned to its existing vendor, Hillstone Networks, to upgrade from its entry-level firewalls to a more robust solution.

Hillstone Networks implemented two higher-end T-Series iNGFWs in high availability mode, complemented by E-Series NGFWs at a branch location and a virtual Hillstone Security Management platform. This solution provided the necessary scalability and advanced threat protection, leveraging the Cyber Kill Chain model, Advanced Threat Detection, and Abnormal Behavior Detection engines. The university's CTO reported being very happy with the technology and support, noting the solution future-proofed their environment, improved security visibility, and protected business continuity.
