Lightyear, a pioneering automotive company developing solar electric vehicles, needed to design and build a companion app for its first car launch. Their challenge was to create a seamless and elegant branded experience that allowed users to see real-time performance data from the car's solar panels. They partnered with vendor Hike One for digital product design to achieve this.

Hike One conducted a comprehensive discovery phase and leveraged a previous successful collaboration to establish the foundations for the new app. Working with developer Q42, they created a token-based design system and delivered an MVP for iOS and Android. The solution surpassed expectations; Hike One's app was successfully launched at a major event where guests could use it to view real-time solar panel data from demo cars, adding considerable impact to the vehicle's unveiling.
