A Hightail Case Study

Real-time collaboration helps HistoryNet go back in time

HistoryNet publishes nine specialty history magazines and HistoryNet.com. After an investment firm bought the titles and brought in a Los Angeles–based creative director to overhaul the visual style, the Leesburg-based production team faced a major coordination challenge: dozens of multi-page feature and department layouts across titles, distributed stakeholders, and chaotic feedback via PDFs, emails and conference calls.

HistoryNet adopted Hightail Spaces to share color-accurate layout visuals, collect comments in one place, and maintain version history. The platform streamlined cover decision-making, let editors, art directors and even the CEO collaborate easily, created a searchable digital paper trail, and became a critical part of the redesign workflow—saving time and enabling the new creative direction to be implemented smoothly.
