Inclusio advances accessible content with Highsoft and a $5 million NSF grant

Inclusio, an innovative content platform, is addressing the challenge of making information accessible for people with blindness or visual impairments (BVI). The lack of accessible content, particularly in academic and STEM fields, creates a significant information gap and contributes to high underemployment rates within the BVI community. To help solve this, Inclusio partnered with Highsoft, the creator of Highcharts, for their expertise in accessible data visualizations.

Highsoft collaborated with the Inclusio team to advise on technical metadata formats for accessible charts and to create proofs of concept for data visualization content. This work supports the development of Inclusio's platform, which integrates content creation and accessibility into a single step. The project, supported by a $5 million NSF grant, aims to close the information gap by empowering everyone to author and consume accessible content in their preferred medium from the start.
