USCIS - Customer Case Study

The customer USCIS, part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, faced a significant challenge with widespread counterfeiting of its Permanent Resident "Green Card." This issue threatened immigration control and the agency's international standing. To meet legislative requirements and deploy the most counterfeit-resistant document possible, the agency turned to vendor HID Global and its LaserCard optical security media technology.

HID Global implemented a next-generation Green Card featuring highly secure, tamper-proof optical media. The solution included innovations like a personalized embedded hologram, ultra-high resolution security patterns, and secure portable data storage. The result was that the digital security of the card was never compromised, effectively putting mass counterfeiters out of business. Over 26 million durable cards were issued, providing a fraud-proof solution for over 13 years and upholding the integrity of the U.S. immigration system.
