Universidad Internacional del Ecuador Improves Access Control and Strengthens Security With HID Mobile Access Technology

Universidad Internacional del Ecuador (UIDE) needed to reduce long vehicle queues, improve campus access, and replace an outdated physical credential process that was costly and time-consuming for its large student body. HID Global’s HID Mobile Access, along with HID Signo Readers and HID Origo Mobile Identities, was selected to help modernize access control across the Quito campus.

HID Global implemented 52 Signo Readers and integrated digital credentials with UIDE’s active directory, allowing students to use their smartphones for secure entry to buildings, classrooms, and libraries. The result was faster, more secure access with better recordkeeping, and student adoption was so strong that planned credentials grew from 2,000 to 5,500, with plans to extend the system to additional campuses.
