Traficom, Finland’s transport and communications agency, needed to update a wide range of licenses, permits, and registration cards to strengthen security, improve usability, and meet evolving European standards. The agency selected **HID Global** to redesign and manufacture 21 cards across multiple categories, including driver’s licenses, tachograph cards, and other permits.

**HID Global** partnered with CardPlus Group and Traficom to create new high-security card designs and tailor-made software and hardware for a more efficient issuance process. The result was the rollout of upgraded cards in April 2024, including Finland’s most secure driver’s license ever, with new transparent windows and other advanced features; the solution also improved EU compliance, streamlined operations, and enhanced protection against fraud and counterfeiters.
