Norway Post, a national postal service with thousands of employees and facilities, faced the challenge of modernizing its outdated magnetic stripe card access control system. They needed a new security solution from HID Global that would be compatible with their legacy format to simplify migration and be supported by their multiple security suppliers.

HID Global implemented a solution using iCLASS Elite smart cards that could read the existing magnetic stripe format, allowing for a seamless transition. This enabled Norway Post to simply replace readers and issue new cards without changing controller firmware, saving significant time and money. The results included increased security and convenience, with the cards now also being used for applications like "follow-me" printing, which reduced paper waste and secured sensitive information.
