Tasmanian Distillery Knocks Out Counterfeiters with HID Global’s IoT Platform for Brand Protection

Old Kempton Distillery, a premium Tasmanian whiskey producer, faced growing risks from counterfeit goods, grey market activity, and the need to give customers an easy way to verify authenticity at purchase. The distillery also wanted a way to strengthen post-sale customer engagement, and turned to HID Global’s HID Trusted Tag Services for a brand protection and authentication solution.

HID Global worked with local integrator AusNFC to embed secure NFC tags on every bottle label, linking each tap to a cloud authentication service that generates a unique, tamper-resistant URL. The solution helps customers confirm each bottle is genuine, reduces counterfeiting and grey market risks, supports Tasmania’s appellation requirements, and enables personalized customer communications after purchase, helping Old Kempton Distillery protect its brand and build loyalty.
