STISS Ltd., a Switzerland-based producer of high-end sapphire watch glass, sought to integrate Near Field Communication (NFC) technology into its product without altering the luxury appearance or design of its glass. The company needed an extremely tiny and reliable RFID solution to enable digital functionality like authentication and contactless payment in analog watches, along with a partner capable of meeting its anticipated global supply demands.

HID Global provided its custom embeddable RFID solution utilizing proprietary DBond technology, which allows for the creation of an ultra-thin, near-invisible NFC tag. This solution enabled STISS to seamlessly embed the technology into its sapphire glass. The partnership resulted in a successful product that met all technical requirements, leading to increased sales volume and elevated client satisfaction. A notable result was the adoption of the technology by watchmaker BA111OD to create an innovative, one-of-a-kind NFC-enabled timepiece.
