A state agency of Australia faced the challenge of replacing its easily counterfeited laminated driver's licenses with a highly secure, updateable, and multi-purpose smart card system. They needed a solution that was fraud-resistant, scalable, and could support post-issuance updates to accommodate future applications. HID Global was selected to provide its industry-leading ActivID Card Management System for this comprehensive ID solution.

HID Global implemented its ActivID CMS, which provided a flexible, citizen-centric platform that supports multiple applications on a single card. The solution enabled secure remote updates to cards already in the field and gave the agency centralized control over all cardholder data. This resulted in one of the world's first ISO 24727 driver's licenses and a system capable of issuing over one million cards across nearly 200 sites, significantly enhancing security and providing a scalable platform for future government services.
