The Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales, y Puertos, a Spanish civil engineering organization, faced a challenge with its cumbersome, paper-based system for reviewing and approving public works plans. HID Global provided its ActivClient smart card middleware and partnered with ipsCA for a PKI and digital signature solution. This enabled engineers to securely sign PDF documents electronically, making the process legally valid and binding. The solution drastically reduced the time and cost associated with the approval process. The organization anticipated that its $1.2 million technology investment would result in savings of over $90 million in just one year.
