Plasticard-ZFT, a German-based manufacturer of ID media, faced the challenge of meeting Lufthansa's stringent security and quality demands for its employee ID cards. The company needed a new solution to dramatically increase card security and durability, minimize misprints, and reduce energy consumption and waste during production. They sought a technology partner, HID Global, that could provide superior service and support to help them achieve these goals for their high-profile client.

HID Global implemented a solution using eight HID FARGO DTC5500LMX ID card printers and HID OMNIKEY readers. This technology provided wasteless lamination, enhanced security features including a custom holographic overlaminate, and supported high-volume production. The results for Plasticard-ZFT included successfully achieving higher card security, significantly reduced waste and misprints, and improved durability for the credentials, all while meeting their same-day shipment commitment for approximately 40,000 cards per year.
