Passive RFID Provides Dynamic Yard Management to World’s Leading Brands

PINC, a Kaleris company, needed to upgrade the temporary passive RFID tags used in its cloud-based yard management system to better track trailers and yard assets in real time. The company had already been using HID Global’s EXO 2000 tag for permanent mounting, but wanted a more secure, easy-to-apply temporary tag for fast-moving yard operations.

HID Global designed a custom RAIN® RFID UHF tag with strong rare earth magnets and built-in handles for quick attachment and removal, while improving durability and read performance. The solution enabled up to a 50-foot read range, real-time trailer visibility, and faster inbound/outbound shipment management, and it has been deployed across hundreds of customer sites including Daimler Trucks, DHL, Boston Brewing, and Supervalu.
