The National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) required a secure and upgradable ID card printing system to protect its facilities and accommodate future security directives like HSPD-12. Their challenge was to issue high-quality identification cards in-house with enhanced security features and the flexibility to adapt to evolving technological needs. They partnered with HID Global to implement a solution based on the Fargo DTC550-LC Direct-to-Card Printer/Encoder.

HID Global's solution provided the NCBRT with a fast, secure, and expandable printing system. The Fargo DTC550-LC printer, equipped with the Fargo Print Security Suite and Fluorescing Ribbon, allowed for immediate card issuance and multiple covert security features. The result was a significant improvement in operational efficiency, enabling the center to print approximately 700 cards annually and make immediate staff updates, all while bolstering physical security with a system prepared for future smart card technology.
