Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie - Customer Case Study

The Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie needed to speed up and improve criminal booking and identification, which was still being handled with manual ink-and-paper cards, scattered records, and inconsistent procedures across outposts. These inefficiencies slowed matching, increased errors, and made it difficult to share criminal history information quickly. HID Global was brought in with an end-to-end criminal enrollment and identification solution, including livescan capture, biometric enrollment, and AFIS-based matching.

HID Global implemented a centralized Automated Fingerprint Identification System with biometric capture tools, mobile handheld scanners, and fingerprint card conversion to digitize records and standardize booking across the force. The result was a much faster, more accurate process: the database grew from 20,000 to over 130,000 records in four years, and the Gendarmerie processed more than 36,000 criminal bookings, solved over 400 latent cases, and identified 15,000 illegal immigrants at remote border crossings.
